Responsibilities

The role provides a bridge between the PMO support team and the Project Manager. The primary focus of the role is to:
1. Provide support to PM or SPM in the delivery of larger and more complex projects or programmes of work
2. With support and guidance from a PM or SPM, deliver smaller, less business critical projects in that location
3. Act as local project management contact and provide support to projects which have a local component

 

Detailed Responsibilities

 

  • You will manage small projects and/or sections of a wider project or programme and take appropriate action throughout project lifecycle to ensure client expectations, project deadlines, budgetary plans, process framework and Aon technology considerations are adhered to and delivered 
  • On larger/complex projects
    • You will provide the necessary administrative support to the lead PM
    • You will actively engage in project boards as directed by the lead PM
    • You will maintain and update risk/issue/action documents
    • You will stand in for the lead PM where appropriate
    • You will assist in the coordination of project workstream activity in the Krakow location
  • On smaller projects:
    • You will facilitate and be accountable for the agreement of deliverables necessary to complete a project together with estimates of work and expenditure necessary
    • You will ensure all projects are fully defined during initiation to ensure a project management framework and methodology is applied, clearly defined and agreed scope is in place and appropriate progress monitoring disciplines are in place and adhered to
    • You will ensure projects adhere to prescribed project, risk and change frameworks
    • You will actively engage with project boards in the management of priorities and the resolution of project issues and with stakeholders (client or internal) for progress updates and escalations
    • You will ensure the project has met client, stakeholder and business objectives
    • You will ensure cost benefit analysis has been conducted and supports commencement and on-going continuation of planned activities 
  • You will be required to support the production of management information reports and metrics (Portfolio Management) and participate in the creation and maintenance of PPMG’s standard project management toolkit and library. 
  • You should understand Aon Hewitt's Benefits Administration & BPO strategic objectives and ensure that project objectives are aligned to them.

  • You will encourage and embed a culture of collaboration and cooperative effort among members of a project team and board to deliver results.
  • You will gain an understanding of the range of services Aon Hewitt and Aon can offer, and which colleagues to talk to where you need to call on further expertise on a particular subject.  To help you achieve this, senior colleagues will share their knowledge of the work of Aon Hewitt's specialist teams. 
  • You will look for opportunities to support and guide project team members throughout the project lifecycle 
  • You will be a buddy to PMO colleagues when required 
  • You will share your knowledge with less experienced colleagues (e.g. shadowing, training)

Competencies, Knowledge & Experience

  • Understanding of Outsourcing and Employee Benefits industry and trends
  • Understanding of Project Management methodologies, processes, procedures and tools;  
  • Ability to use such knowledge proactively with Project Managers and also in consultation with internal stakeholders
  • Proven ability to independently run small projects on a regular basis.
  • Effective problem solving skills to anticipate future needs/issues, including identifying solutions and making recommendations
  • Strong communication, listening, questioning and interpersonal skills that build long term relationships and trust and help build a clear understanding of work objectives
  • Ability to work effectively in a virtual environment and independently as required from time to time
  • Experience of MS Excel, Powerpoint, Word  and ideally, MS Project skills
  • Knowledge of operational processes or knowledge of software solutions within a Outsourcing and Benefits environment

Education & Certification

  • You are likely to be degree qualified in a related discipline (Project Management, Business Management or other)
  • You will be expected to attain PRINCE2 Practitioner certification within an agreed timeframe 
  • The ability to communicate complex ideas in written and spoken English is essential. Fluent English to C1 is a minimum requirement.
